Nilgiri Mountain Railway

There are a considerable number of trains which are operative in the hilly areas of the Country of India. The train is conducted by a YDM4 diesel locomotive between the area of Coonoor and Udagamandalam. As per the 2005 record , regularly four trains run each way between the region of Coonoor and Udagamandalam .



It is at the Coonoor shed that major locomotive repair works are done. As far as the distance is concerned, the train covers about forty six kms or twenty eight miles. It is the the month of July in 2005 that UNESCO figured in the Nilgiri Mountain Railway as an addition to the World Heritage Site belonging to the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway.
